UX Designer

Description

As a User Experience Designer, you will play a critical role in designing a product that is used daily by large organizations to interact with large numbers of vendors and track their metadata.

In this role, you will work with our product and development teams from the earliest phases of innovation through the transition into delivery. Communicating key experience design criteria to our development team and assisting in the transition from strategic concept to solution design and implementation is essential.

You will need to be comfortable partnering with key stakeholders at various organizational levels from our end users to our C-suite. We expect creative storytelling abilities to connect the current experience and to a vision for improvements that meets both user and business needs.

To facilitate that communication, we need someone with excellent verbal and written skills as well as delivery of visuals, both wireframes and pixel-perfect mockups. An understanding of front-end development (CSS and Javascript) would be helpful but is not required. We use Figma internally currently but any UX design software experience is a plus.

We are looking for someone with an opinionated eye for design and a strong visual style. Our app has a very rich feature set and the ultimate goal is to make sure it is understandable by our end users.

The job is remote, but most of our staff is in the Eastern Time Zone (US). We are only considering applicants with at least four hours of overlap with 9-5 EST each working day.

Requirements

  • Creating wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps and screen flows
  • Creating product prototypes
  • Developing personas and usage scenarios
  • Conducting usability testing
  • Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance the user experience
  • Assisting with content development
  • Conducting competitor and customer analysis

Benefits

  • Flexible hours
  • Flexible location (have laptop, will travel)
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Annual vacation stipend
  • Fitness fund
  • Commuter benefit

Job Type: Full-time

Full Stack Developer

Description

We’re looking for several full-stack developers for our growing development team.

Vendorful is written primarily in Elixir and React.js and leverages Elixir’s strong support for real-time interactions. We are dealing with human-driven rather than machine-generated data so scaling challenges are more around optimizing database queries than managing zillions of data points. Given the markets and people we serve, optimizing for usability and making sense of the data that we do collect are of paramount importance.

While we want to add full-stack developers to our team, we should be clear that we don’t expect you to be equally good at backend and frontend code, but strong enough that you can deliver new features and squash bugs. We are far more interested in hiring strong, creative, and enthusiastic developers rather than finding people who check a bunch of boxes. So if there is a language, framework, or other piece of technology in our stack that you don’t know, but are keen to learn, that’s 100% okay with us!

To that end, our existing development team is not just super talented, but also super nice. They are all happy to answer questions, pair program, and spend time helping you ramp up on our code base and any of the technologies that we leverage that are new to you.

The job is remote, but most of our staff is in the Eastern Time Zone (US). We are only considering applicants with at least four hours of overlap with 9-5 EST each working day.

Requirements

  • Experience with frontend and backend web development
  • Knowledge of SQL in the relational database of your choice
  • Ability to write clean software
  • Willingess to use TDD principles
  • Experience with version-control software

Nice To Haves

  • Elixir
  • React.js
  • Docker and Kubernetes

Your Background

  • Education: Any. We are equally happy to hire autodidacts as we are Ivy Leaguers.
  • Experience: 4+ years of professional web development, with both back end and front end experience.

Benefits

  • Flexible hours
  • Flexible location (have laptop, will travel)
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Annual vacation stipend
  • Fitness fund
  • Commuter benefit
